The Miami-Dade County Consumer Services Department will be giving FREE classes on how to use the County's Small Claims Court system. The first class in 2007 will be on Wednesday, January 24th at 7:00 pm at the McDonald Center at 17051 NE 19th Avenue in the City of North Miami Beach. The Small Claims Court system can be used to settle disputes of $5,000 or less without the use of an attorney. The class will explain exactly how the system works. You start by filing an action and the goal is to finish by collecting a judgment. Sample packets of required legal forms will be provided and class participants' questions will be answered.
There are 16 such clinics planned for 2007. Four of the clinics will be held in Spanish and two will focus specifically on how to collect on a judgment. To see a schedule of dates for the clinics click here. The first one in our South Dade area will be in February.
Reservations are NOT required and the clinics are FREE and open to the public.
