I was tagged a month ago by Carmen Rivero and although I played the game before I was honored that Carmen would tag me and promised her I'd play again. Sorry it took me so long Carmen! And I still have to make time for Carole Cohen's book meme. It's on my list Carole!
I'm hard pressed to come up with 5 unique things about me. I'm so open with you guys you probably know everything already! Let's give this the old college try......
- I'm a closet singer. I love to sing. If I'm alone in the car, you can bet your bottom dollar that I am singing. I think I mentioned once before how I sing at vacant homes as the acoustics are great. I do that only at Open Houses or while waiting for a client. Is the world ready for my singing debut? I don't think so! I've sung at church and look forward to making time for that again, but that's as far as I'll go. =)
- I think I am the only one of my siblings (or friends for that matter) who was given a big YES when I asked my parents if I could go to Mexico by myself at the age of 18. I went to Club Med and had a blast. (a clean blast) My parents knew they had nothing to worry about when they agreed. Does that tell you how square I am?
- My husband died when I was 35 and it turned my world upside down. I grieved and got back on my feet but it was one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced. I've kept his memory alive for our daughters, who were only 2 and 5 when he passed away. Our daughters said goodnight to him and awoke the next morning to a world without their father. Life is fleeting. Please don't ever take anyone you love for granted. Enjoy your blessings while they're still around.
- I have over 50 boxes of books in the garage (this is part of the reason I can't get to Carole's meme!). That does not include the bookcases I have in the house filled with books. I realize it's time to go through them and hopefully find them a new home. A book was meant to be read and re-read and shared with others so its legacy can continue. Mine are being shortchanged in the garage. If anyone out there has any ideas, I am open to suggestions. But where to find the time?
- I am the Crafting Queen! Do not even try to compete with me as far as supplies. I have a 1200SF garage that apart from the 50 boxes of books also stores a myriad of craft supplies. Sewing, knitting, crocheting, beadwork, stained glass, millefiori, basketweaving, dollmaking, claywork, macrame, glue guns, staplers, scissors, oil paints, canvas, scrapbooking, papermaking, papier mache, pinatas, woodpainting, swarovski crystals, chocolate molds, rubber stamps, shrinky-dinks, scherenschnitte, paper quilling, silk ribbon embroidery, christmas ornaments, are you sick yet? I know I am! The very sad thing about this admission is that I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed any of it. Surely real estate has me way too busy. My very favorite thing I have ever created is the lovingly made Waldorf doll. I've made 3 and given them away and have another 8 at different stages of creation packed away. Poor babies!
So there you have it. If you fell asleep (and understandably so. I take no offense), please wipe the drool off the keyboard as it could cause a malfunction down the road.
In the on-going tradition of our beloved me-me's I am tagging Carol Housen just to get her to type more (she's quite the colorful character though), Tony Gallegos, and Kelan the Great. Tag, you're it!!

What a wonderful MeMe. Sorry to hear about your husband.
I don't think I have the patience to do any sorts of crafts. I seem to have A.D.D when it comes to things like that and reading too.
Broker Maggie: Ahhh Sponge-Grasshopper! Since "meeting" you I always thought you were a crafty one (sorry). Speaking of "Grasshopper," T informs me she has been hob-nobbing with the Tomato his-own-self at the San-Fran Inman conference, among other luminaries. I am envious, not of the conference, but of San Francisco, not only is it beautiful, but cooler than the 90+ & dry we've been going through here!

Great meme. Thank you for sharing so much.
Hi, Maggie! You are an inspiration to your girls, I hope you know that. :o)
I'm a Crafting Queen myself! And like you, I can't find the time for it anymore either. Just one more thing shoved aside for real estate. Tsk. I sing in the car too, but unlike you I am not gifted in that area. I only sing my for car!!
Great meme Maggie
I didn't know about your husband, I can't image what you must have gone through. Thought I had a lot of books, but you have me beat! Thanks for sharing so much about yourselve with us.
Sandra
Loved it Maggie! I think we should have a little video from you with you singing!
What'ya think?
Maggie - I don't know if I could donate my books......I love to go back and read or look for info when I know it is there.
No competeition from me on being the "Crafting Queen". I used to sew, but now I only do real estate - how boring is that.
My daughter went to Mexico a few weeks ago with friends......she's twenty, so I can't tell her not to. Well, I did tell her not to, she didn't listen.
So good to know more about you!
Maggie,
I knew there was more to tell about you. I look forward to the day I can get to meet you in person but for now this will do.
Maggie - from one booklover to another - sell your books to a used bookstore! Better yet, don't take the money - take a store credit and spend your free time browsing the shop for new treasures with your kids. If you have more than one in your area, spread the books out between them so you have some variety.
Another bonus - every used bookstore I've ever been to has a few cats prowling around the store. What better way to decide if you want a book than to sit on a chair and pet a cat while you read the first few pages?
PS - Whatever books you can't sell, donate to your library for their annual book sale.
Hi Maggie,
guess I should have read this group first! I also tagged Carol.. Well, we'll just have to make sure she does her MEME , now don't we... You know we should start a book club..I have about 10 boxes of books, not to mention all theones already donated to charity or sent to book barn!
See ya in the salt mine!
Maggie,
I am another book addict - I have books everywhere! My mother in law suggested paperbackswap.com to me and I have been swapping books on there to try to get rid of some of my boxes.
Maggie, I lost my fist husband also. The Lord knew I do not do well alone and blessed me with Roger.
I love books still have some in cartons in the garage, but gave a lot away.
I wish I were crafty but I am all thumbs with that kind of thing.. Sing I am a singing queen,,, especially old musicals and oldies... We go down the beach at night and I do a medley Beyond the Sea, Ebb Tide, Sea of Love..LOL!
how could I fall asleep - you always make me smile. My craftiness ends with creating great openings for my RES shows which everyone asks how I do them and I have yet to create a blog about - because when I do it seems like a lot of steps to write out.... but it is really easy... I love to read and sing too.... but most people look for a wounded cat when I sing.
Awwwww, you guys are the best! Thanks for the wonderful comments, words of support and suggestions. I will definitely try to do something about my books and my craft supplies. They were meant to bring joy to people's lives, but they're just collecting dust right now and that's a shame.
Thanks for making me feel a little less boring than I really am. =) And please forgive the group response. I don't have the time to reply individually but I do appreciate each of your comments. Thanks!
Chris - I never heard of it. Big YIKES!! My kid joked the other day about having me Phone Tapped (the local radio station playing phone pranks on people) by having a "supposed million dollar buyer" call me. I told her if she ever pranks me like that, she better find a new place to call home.
Leah - you're probably better than you're admitting to! Singing is so much fun though. Who cares that we can't sing like Celine Dion? "that's the power of luuuuuurrrv."
Maggie, You are one neat lady. I miss doing crafts, not because I am too busy but because my hands get too sore and cramp up. I used to crochet for hours and hours and enjoy the heck out of it. Now I want to build a doll house but those things are too dang expensive, or start a train town, but they are too big LOL!
Have a great day!
You are a square!?!?!?
Hmmm.... I have suscribed to your blog. What does that make me?
Item #3 is exceptionally difficult and touching. My better 7/8ths is a kindred crafting queen spirit. The third floor of our tahoe house is her crafting dervish studio.
Cheers...
Dena - you're too sweet. Really! Have you heard? It's hip to be square! la la la la la la Thanks for your lovely comment.
Michele - I have a terrible story about the only time the 3 of us sang in church. It hurts to even think about it. If I ever get meme'd again, I have one of the 5 items ready. =) You made me smile with your comment. Thank you.
Gary - It's been 10 years and you never forget. I can tell you've got an exceptional person in your life by the way you refer to her as so much more than your better half. And I bet you even tell her that and everything! Lucky guy.
thanks Maggie for sharing! I just don't know how you do it all, raise the girls alone, live a productive real estate career, read, craft and more! You are the bomb! A big hug and kiss to you my friend!
PS I am a book and craft nut to, but haven't had time in sooo long! (Books still sneak in)
Maggie,
I knew that you would be a singer! Good for you! It definitely lightens the heart!
Your latest meme has now been added to your first meme in my alphabetical meme list.
Have a great day in Miami!
Lucky :)
