Editing Your Photos With PhotoFiltre (FREE)

I read a post by Rob Blake  months ago where he introduced a software program called PhotoFiltre.

I downloaded the program but didn't do more with it than Rob taught in his post.  I have been playing with it a lot these last 2 weeks.  It is an amazing program, in my humble opinion.  I do not have PhotoShop.  I do not have Word 2007.  I hear those are wonderful photo editing programs.  But PhotoFiltre suits my needs and it's FREE.  You can download it here.

I had long admired the shadow effects that some people add to their pictures.  I also wanted (needed?) to be able to add my copyright to my pictures and do so easily.  PhotoFiltre does this and more.  I have had a lot of fun creating different effects on my pictures with it.  There are so many effects that I have not been able to play with all of them.  It's also pretty intuitive and I've been able to teach myself most of it.  There is a tutorial online although I've not looked at it much.

Did I mention that it's free?

Here's some pictures I've edited with PhotoFiltre.

Broker Maggie...

I have been enjoying Picasa by Google. It's also free. I find myself wondering if this PhotoFiltre has anything different than what Google offers.

I guess I'll just go and have a looksie  :)

Brian - I had heard raves about PhotoShop and was saddened that I couldn't affor the $600 pricetag.  I'm not so sure any more.  This one's working out great for me.

Billie - I downloaded Picasa (and loved the name!) but I couldn't get past the folders.  What is up with those folders?  I could not navigate my way around. I found PhotoFiltre simple to use.  I just opened a file and went to work with it. =)

Susan - you're welcome.  I've never used the Kodak program but I could not believe how many different things you can do with this one.

Thesa - you and I must be related =)  Not all free things are worth it.  I'm enjoying this one.

Roger - have fun with it.  Take one of your pictures and see how many different things you can do with it.  The possibilities are endless.  Watermarks, frames, textures, special effects, etc.

Cynthia - I tried Picasa for a whole hour.  As I mentioned to Billie I couldn't figure out the folders.  They really confused me.  I was never able to just open up a file and see what the program can do because of that.  I would have tried again if not for finding PhotoFiltre.

I like the digital watermark...

I think that more people need to be doing that to the pictures they upload to ActiveRain and other online sites so that other people do not repost them and get credit...

even on MLS I believe it should have your information... I like IDX but I still think the listing agent should retain rights to pictures etc.

Nice tip. Why not have a copyright? After all you are the one who tok the time and did the work. Sometimes I may just block the picture with canon program.

Maggie,

I just loaded it and it said it was free for 30 days!  Sneaky, huh?  What is the cost after 30 days?

Hi everyone.  Thanks for your comments.

To address Lucky's comment, I have to mention something that happened (and I thought I was imagining it) The second time I used this program I got a pop-up that said it was a 30-day trial.  I looked for a way to purchase it so I could find out what it costs but I could not find it.  I emailed Rob (who posted about this originally) and he assured me that it is free.  I have not been using it on my pc a month so I do not know if I will get locked out after 30 days.

However, I mentioned that I downloaded this back when Rob did his post, on my laptop!  Let me fire up my laptop and see if I can use the program there.  That will answer the question as to whether this is totally free or not.  Be back soon!

UPDATE - as mentioned in my comment above, I went to my laptop and accessed the program from there.  I was able to use it just fine even though I downloaded it months ago.  I guess it really is free!

Maggie,

That sounds good to me.  I wonder why they have it on there?  Oh well!

Lucky - I wondered also and then thought I was imagining it when I couldn't find any purchasing info.  LOL  As you say, oh well!  I won't complain about that.  =)

I'm going to give it a try. I sure hope it really is easy. :)
Posted by Monika McGillicuddy~NH Real Estate Broker (Prudential Verani Realty) almost 5 years ago
Monika - it really is.  You open a file the way you would in almost any program and then the rest is pretty intuitive.  Play around with all the choices and see what effect it has on your pictures.  If you need any help, I'm no expert but feel free to get in touch!

Maggie - is that how you put the copyright info on the photos? Thanks for the good info - more homework

Is Photo Flikre like Flikr and Picasa?
Posted by Tracy Santrock-Cary NC Realtor (Fonville Morisey/Santrock Realty Group, Inc. ) almost 5 years ago
Tracy - I'm not all up on this stuff, but I believe Flickr is totally webbased, and PhotoFiltre is not.  It's a software you download.  As for Google's Picasa, I dowloaded it and I was not able to understand the set-up of the folders.  I don't know why!  After playing around with it for an hour or so I gave up on it.  I found PhotoFiltre very easy to use.  However, I must say, that since I wrote this post, I have not been able to use the version I dowloaded onto my PC as it states that my free trial has expired.  But the version I dowloaded onto my laptop way before has not told me that.  I am still using that one without a problem.  Strange.
