Miami Dade Real Estate Scoop

The majority of homebuyers in the Miami Redland, Homestead area answer "NO" when I ask them if they know what a Community Development District is.  If the property they're looking at is located in a CDD (as these districts are commonly reffered to) this fact has to be disclosed to them.

But disclosure alone isn't enough for me.  I like to make sure they understand the implications of their potential home being located in a Community Development District.  Their bottom line depends on it.

Salma Lake is a new community built around Salma Lake in Homestead.  It's directly west of the 288th Street exit of the Florida Turnpike.  Two minutes and you're home!

The subdivision is made up of 38 single family homes on good size lots.  The standard lots are 6000 SF and there are bigger lots available at a premium.  There are still some waterfront homesites available as well.  Fifteen homes remain.

When: Saturday, July 14, 2007 3:00pm - 7:00pm

Why:  Know nothing about the game of golf?  Come to this free festival for a free introduction!  There will be activities for the whole family: Golf lessons; Driving, chipping and putting challenges; food, music and dance; a fun zone for the kids; PGA Golf Pro Larry Levow will offer two free clinics at 3:30pm and 6:00pm.  And don't miss Divot the Clown, famous trick-shot artist at 5:00pm.

I love this country.  It is not the place of my birth, but I love it just as much. 

I was born in Cuba and left when I was just a child.  I am very proud to be Cuban.  But I am just as proud to be an American.  The pride of being Cuban was a birthright somehow.  That was given to me.  I had no choice in the matter. 

You can say I also had no choice in coming here.  I had to go wherever my parents took me.  That's correct.  But my parents had a choice.  They could have remained in Cuba and continued to live in a place where human rights are pretty much non-existent.  I'm glad they chose to come to America.

As a child in my homeland, there was talk of the abundance in America.  I heard tales that women wore undies only once and threw them away.  It's funny what tales people tell. 

But the tale of freedom in America was no tale.  It was the truth.  America is indeed the land of the free and the home of the brave.

When I hear yet another news report of someone desperate enough to throw themselves to the mercy of the sea on a makeshift raft and risk their life in an effort to reach paradise just 90 miles away...but their gamble did not pay off... I think how blessed I am that I don't have to make choices like that.  My parents made sure of that for me.

America is not perfect.  There's only one place I know of that is, and we won't be seeing it this side of life.  But America sure comes close.  I count my blessings every day and living in America is one of them.

Today I'd like to thank my parents for having the vision to leave every single personal possession behind and setting off for a new beginning in a foreign country where people spoke a different tongue and life was a lived a different way.  They left penniless, but not hopeless.  Hands and pockets bare but hearts full.  I know how much courage that took.

Thank you for bringing me to America Mom and Dad.  I can never repay that debt.  Nor can my children.  Nor my children's children.  It's a legacy you have given us that will continue to be fruitful.

I've had a really long week.  So long that I haven't commented on any posts in the last 2 days, much less post something of my own.

I just checked Active Rain to see what I've been missing.  Looks like a lot!  I can always count on some good stuff going on here.  That's what makes this place so valuable.

While here I noticed my Localism photo contribution had changed yet again.  I've written in the past about my pictures disappearing (being deleted by the powers-that-be).  The cleaning up of pictures on Localism is a good thing.  What I don't understand is which of my pictures have "violated the guidelines" enough to merit being deleted.  I have always been a stickler for playing by the rules.  Always.

I don't want to keep wondering why my pictures are disappearing.  I also don't want to see them disappearing little by little, one here one there. 

So, what to do?  I deleted them all on my own.  That should take care of both of my problems.  Yeah, I lost some points in the process.  No big deal.  We're not here for the points, are we?  ;-)

Well, I didn't delete them all really.  There are 12 left.  But I can't find them.  lol  If you see a Localism picture with my name on it, would you kindly point it out?  Thanks!
